This article explains how to create, modify and apply filters to any section of Service Intel. It's important to note that while this tutorial specifically creates, modifyies and applies a filter to the Point of Sale, you can use these steps to create/modify/apply filters to any part of SI.
Navigate to the page containing the filters button by left clicking Vehicles from column 1.
(Once again, the filters button is in the same place on most other screens, including campaigns, texting center, reports, customer, etc...)
From the Vehicles screen, click the Switch Filter dropdown menu in the header.
The words in the brackets indicate which filter is currently applied. In this case, it shows No Filter.
From the drop-down menu there will be a list of all filters that have been built anywhere within Service Intel. To change the campaign's filter, choose from this list. If you have not yet configured any filters, your list may only have the option "All Vehicles" (same as no filter), "Add New Filter" or "Manage Filters". To create a new filter, click Add New Filter from the drop-down menu.
This will open a dialogue box entitled Add Customer Filter. The box contains options to narrow down the search results according to certain parameters:
Company filter lets you filter target results by customer company name. Using the include selected box, you can specify which companies should be displayed/targeted by the filter (Such as Postal Service, the local dealership, sherif's department, etc). Alternatively, using the exclude selected, you can remove a few specific companies from being displayed/targeted.
Customer filter lets you filter search results by the customer's name. Using the include selected box, you can specify individual families to be displayed/targeted by the filter (Such as Bob, or the Smith Family). Just be cautious as people with the same name cant be distignushed and will be included together in a single filter. Using the exclude, you can remove a few specific people/families from being displayed/targeted.
Try not to use an exclude filter as a way to modify somone's contact preferences. Even if it makes sense to exclude a dealership from all filters because you don't want to send them postcards or emails, you should alternativly navigate to the customer and flag them as opted out of those contact types. See the related help article for more information.
Customer Type lets you require specific thresholds to be met before a customer qualifies to be included for display/targeting. This is calculated using the entirity of the customer's fleet, and uses summary total of any vehicles they have associated with them. Total spent for a customer is not the same as total spent for a vehicle.
Months Since 1st Visit: A whole number of months that must have passed since a customer's first visit. For example, use 0 to 3 to target new customers from the last 90 days or use 3 to 6 to find which customers had their fist visit last quarter.
Number of Visits: A whole number of visits that a customer must have combined across all vehicles.
For example, use 1 to 1 to target customers who have had their first visit regardless of time, or 10 to 99 to find customers that have a combined total of 10 visits or more across all vehicles.
Number of Vehicles: A whole number of vehicles that a customer must have associated with their account in your shop management system.
For example, use 0 to 5 to exclude fleet accounts, or 6 to 99 to target them.
Months Since Visit: A whole number of months that must have passed since a customer's most recent visit, from any vehicle they have.
For example, use 12 to 99 to find a list of customers who have not brought any vehicle in, in over 12 month.
Total Spent: A whole number of dollars that have been flagged as paid by the customer across all vehicles by the shop managment system.
Totoal Last 12 mo.: A whole number of dollars that have been flagged as paid by the customer across all vehicles within the last 12 months by the shop management system.
Average RO: A whole number of an averaged calculation of all dollars spent, divided by the total number of visits by the customer across all vehicles they have.
Zip Code Selection lets you require specific thresholds to be met before a vehicle qualifies to be included for display/targeting. This is calculated using only the individual vehicles statistics and ignores other vehicles in the fleet.
Vehicle Filter lets you filter by estimated odometer reading and months elapsed since last service. The estimated odometer reading will give you vehicles with odometers within the range specified, and months elapsed since last service will give you customers who have been to the shop a certain number of months within the range specified.Vehicle Models lets you include certain models in the search results, or exclude certain models in the search results.
Current Odometer: A whole number of miles a vehicle's current estimated or actual odometer must be. All vehicles will have an esitmated odometer for their vehicle unless you updated their odometer today. Estimated odometer take their last known odometer and add their estimated miles per day for each day they have been out of the shop. We estimate their mile per day using up to the last 3 odometers we have on file by calculating the miles difference between each visit, and then dividing that by the number days since.
Months Since Visit: A whole number of months since a vehicles last visit, regardless of what other visits the customer who owns the vehicle may have.
Total Spent: A whole number of dollars that have been flagged as paid by the customer seperated by vehicle by the shop management system.
Total Last 12 mo.: A whole number of dollars that have been flagged as paid by the customer seperated by vehicle within the last 12 months by the shop management system.
Average RO: A whole number of an averaged calculation of all dollars spent, divided by the total number of visits by the customer for this vehicle across all vehicles they have.
Vehicle Years lets you include vehicles manufactured in any year in the range specified. Note that you must provide both the lower and upper bound for this to work.
Vehicle Makes lets you include or exclude specific makes from tracking/targeting. This list is populated from your own shop management system and will not allow you to select vehicle makes that you have not used before in your SMS.
Vehicle Models lets you include or exclude specific vehicle models from tracking or targeting in Service Intel. This also uses a list of vehicle models from your shop management system and will not let you seles Models that you have not used in your shop before.
Engine types lets you include or exclude vehicles based on their respecitve engine type. Its important to note that if a vehicle does not have an engine associated with it in your SMS, they will automatically be excluded from any filters requiring an engine type, or, automatically included for any filters excluding a specific engine type.
Transmission lets you include or exclude vehicles based on their transmission. Just like the filters above, this list comes from your SMS and cannot be configured with values if they do not exist inside your SMS already.
Filters are additive, meaning the more checkboxes you have, the more restrictive the system is. At the time of writing this, there is no way to use an OR filter.
When you have named your filter in Filter Name field at the top of the dialogue box and specified the search criteria, click Add to create the filter.
To view the filters you have made so far, click Manage Filters.
This will open the main page all the filters that have been built for the point of sale search.
You can edit any filter by clicking the edit button on the far right of the screen when hovering over a filter.
